it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

i had a pretty productive day today. first, i found a new use for my gargantuan shot glass - my lovely grad gift from the faculty of nursing....mmmmm-mmmmm shortbread!!

then i helped these cute Christmas smarties (the red ones have snowmen and snowflakes and trees on them) find their way into some double chocolate chip cookies....

and i found a good way to use my lastest, most favouritist flavouring - almond extract. yummers! here's a picture of most of the 257 cookies i made today (the rest are in my tummy).
and then in the evening we decorated our Christmas tree! this year we FINALLY have a real one - a scotch pine nonetheless. gorgeous!

Yummy! I hope to taste some of those come Saturday! We just had our annual family baking day. We made 5 types of cookies and 2 appetizers!

Looks like you were busy. Tristan and I have gotten quite a few kinds of cookies baked and it seems everyone is doing great at sampling... Next week a few of us girls are doing a cookie exchange- bake 4 dozen cookies, keep one dozen, bring the rest and come home with 3 dozen of a different kind (actually dozen of 3 different kinds). variety without the thinking and planning... One of the girls and I will probably do this more often, except my non-Christmas baking is usually sugar free...
Hopefully we'll see some of these treats Jan 3rd?

257 COOKIES!!! You are my new hero! I don't know if I have EVER made that many. I love those smarties, where did you find them. What kind of cookies did you make with almond extract? Hope you have a wonderful evening enjoying your beautiful tree and yummy cookies!
