i heart art

i sewed a diaper bag. the outside is made of brown and beige wool that i scored at mcc. it smelled musty and so i washed the fabric first. i wash all my second-hand fabric although i don't think most of it is machine washable. the fabric shrunk a bit - no problem since i hadn't cut into it yet - but it stunk even more afterwards, so it spent a few days outside airing out. the lining is just a baby blue cotton that i got from my oma's supply of unwanted fabric.

there's a few pockets inside. hopefully enough and in the right sizes, as i don't really have a clue what i'm going to need. there's one big pocket with a snap.

a handy little strap for me keys.

look how good it looks on daddy!

Love it! I have bookmarked so many sites with patterns and even have my fabric, but alas, still no bag sewn by me! Maybe this will inspire me... Or inspire me to blog hop some more for too many more ideas... And if nothing else, we just continue with the backpack...and quite possibly no diapers anyways. But a bag would be so fun...

I love this pattern. I've made it a few times. Do you own the simply sewing book? It's a fabulous book of patterns.

That's a great looking bag, Julia!.....especially over Daddy's shoulder! Before you know it, you'll be using it for real. We too, can hardly wait!

Thanks everyone! Yes, NorJ, it's from that fantastic book, but I added way more pockets. I think it's all of her beautiful fabric and design that has made me so dissatisfied with the local fabric stores. Maybe I need to check those websites in the book.

Sweet bag! And the key strap is awesome. I never can find my keys in my purse- let alone a big diaper bag. Looks perfect! You'll prob. be hauling around everything besides that what the baby needs if you are anything like me.... (that might be the Martens in me though).
