i'm currently reading the anne of green gables series. believe it or not, i have never read the books. .. i know, i'm a terrible person... i call myself a fan.... I've read parts of some of the books, yes, but now i'm reading all of them in order. i absolutely LOVE the movies (if you are boy and are rolling your eyes right now, i have only one thing to say to you: give Anne a try. i know a few guys who admit that they don't hate it....) and i love reading books.... but with school starting again i can't see myself having a whole lot of time to read fiction. if you love the movies as much as i, but you've never read these books.... do it!! the thing is, with the Anne-girl's crazy imagination and her fiery, vivacious spirit, the book is so incredibly intense. she'll talk nonstop for a page and a half, ranting or raving about the Lake of Shining Waters or how she'd like to one day be a minister's wife but she couldn't possibly because then she'd have to always be good and no matter how hard she tries, she's still wicked and some people are naturally good and she is not one of them and how could she ever be, since her hair is so red?? it's not the easy-reading that i was expecting from a book i signed out of the 'juvenile' section of the public library. but it's oh-so-wonderful! i love her love for life. she's just so happy to be alive and loved. that's all she really wants - to love and to be loved. isn't that exactly what everyone really wants?

If I'd known that in college, I'd have gladly handed you my entire collection to read. After you've read the Anne books (make sure you don't miss Rainbow Valley and Rilla of Ingleside, she wrote those under protest) you have to read her BEST book. If you don't believe me, ask Karina or Sharon, they'll back me up! The Blue Castle is really good. But I'm a HUGE L.M. Montgomery fan, so I'm slightly biased. Enjoy! Let me know what you think.
The books are SOOO much better than the movies. I grew up having my sister read them to me, and I was disappointed when I first saw the movies (though I now own them all, and have grown to love them too)! LM Montgomery is fantastic. I would recommend 'Jane of Lantern Hill', and 'Magic for Marigold' once you're done the Anne series.
