are things going well? ummm, i think so!

i started work on monday and i keep getting asked how it's going. well, it's going..... well. it's weird because never in my life have i had a job like this - so unstructured (or maybe it's that i'm not waiting on customers/patients/campers right now). i have been given an office, 2 months and the instructions "Make a Leader-in-Training program." okay! will do! ....but where to start? how do i do this? i've spent a lot of time at work reading books (mostly "the Christian Camp Counsellor" which is a phenomenal book which most camps are using these days), reading handbooks and guides from other camps, and praying prayers like, "okay God, you've given me this passion and excitement to do this this summer, when my own personal agenda included a whole lot o' relaxation instead of this. now please give me some direction as to where you want this to go." but i'm not a very good listener. i find it extremely difficult to pray a prayer for guidance and then sit quietly and listen for an answer. so i just keep scribbling down brainstorming ideas on looseleaf and keep reading, hoping that God is guiding me to where He wants this program to go. today was the first day that i actually started typing out these ideas into formats that other people will find legible, with titles such as "purpose of the LIT program". so we're getting there.

anyways, things are going well. are things on track? are we going to be scrambling at the end of june? i don't have a clue. most likely. but we'll deal with that later.

I have no doubt that you will be able to put a good program together. It will be a nice break from school and patients and such. Oh, and I agree about just listening. It is very hard. My mind always keeps going and day-dreaming and thinking about what I should make for supper and such.

If you want any idea's or resources feel free to give me a call. I help Nathan alot with putting together our High School Camp and helped with our Leadership training program. If my thought or what we do here would be of any help, I would love to share.
