survey

out of curiosity, i'm conducting a survey. apparently, 1 out of 4 births in north america are by cesarean. so i want to know, how many of your babies were delivered vaginally and how many by c-section?

leave a comment like this for example (this would be 3 babies):
V- 2
C- 1

I'm first to reply- so right now the survey will show 1 out of 2 births in North America are born by c-section!

v-1 (or maybe 3 -not quite sure but pretty sure that how's P&M were delivered- we say they are to be delivered by plane... but for your survey, they don't even count because they were born in Africa)

I can only imagine how disappointing it would be to wrap your head around the idea of a c-section. Ours was planned this way after the trauma and near loss of both J and I at our first birth. I never thought of it as any less or unnatural. I think knowing ahead that one will have a c-section allows you to skip laboring and then having a c-section (now that has to be hard to labor and go through hours of contractions and then have to have a c-section!)and you can prepare for it and since it's planned and not emergency, hubby gets to be there with you. It is the oddest feeling when they get baby out... And it is surgery... but you do heal and your baby even has a nice round head right away!!
I know we all process things differently and have ideals and ideas in our minds. I would love to offer some comfort in that my section birthed baby turned out just fine. ;-) And in the end, as you know, the big thing is that baby is healthy and in your arms. I'm thinking of you and praying for you and baby as the day this baby will come out is coming closer!

(Man I wish I had a ticker like yours... it actually is counting down to your due date... my ticker just counts up from when we knew about our kids...)

Hey Julia, I linked to your blog from my sister Angela's blog-hope that's okay. For the record I recently had a c-section after a very long labor and even was the one who asked for one in the end (not because of breech, but size and apparently it would have resulted in a c-section in the end so it was a good decision). It wasn't what I planned or hoped for, but in the end it's just what happened and it was okay. Anyway, I hope all goes well! Take care.

In that order too. The C-section was for a breech baby. Is that the case with you? Or are you just curious. Hope everything goes well. Good luck and God bless.
