mmmmm, i feel great! well, maybe a little bit tired. but i guess that's what happens when you sleep for 12 hours.
my clinical went really well yesterday. i am now in postpartum - babies that are 0-3 days old. my mom yesterday was a teenager and it was neat because she totally loved her baby and she had friends and family coming in and out of her room all day and her phone was ringing off the hook. she has support. awesome.
i did a lot of answering questions and teaching about taking care of herself and her baby. and i walked her through a baby-bath to give her practise before she went home. i think that was my favorite part of the day.
so today (after my incredibly long sleep) i read something in Relevant magazine that kind of stuck out at me. there's an article on peace and non-violent living. the author was talking about loving your enemies. "That is why Jesus said, 'Let any of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.' (John 8:7). It's not just to reveal the hypocrisy of the judgers or to show mercy to the accused; it's also to enable the accusers to love the accused. The apostle Paul constantly reminded us of our sinfulness and our salvation as sinners, but not because he wanted us to feel bad about ourselves, but because recognition of our own sinfulness creates in us the capacity to see beyond the sins of others."
who are my enemies? or in my little world, who are the people that i just don't like? (i can think of a few.) but that's not right.... i'm not perfect either. can i look beyond their faults and love them?

that's just like the whole take the big ol' piece of wood out of your eye before you take the little speck of sawdust out of your neighbors eye thing. we can't really say anything until we have our own stuff together. what happens when we do get it all together? do we ever? of course this doesn't mean we don't say anything to someone who believes who is venturing off the path a little. guidance, i think, is okay when it's called for, but that requires a bit of discernment. whoops, i think i went a little off track!! man, i gotta borrow that magazine. it's sounding better and better every time you guys talk about it.
