sorry, i don't work here!!

i can't believe it. i'm done working for R this summer. Day Camp starts next week! well, staff training does. ya know, working everyday with R turned out to be a really good thing. we both were a little nervous... you always hear about people who work with their significant other, and how extra problems arise. well, we made it! we still love each other! !
there are a few things i won't miss. i won't miss my repeated responses to customers: "I'm sorry, i don't actually work for home depot. i just deliver the plants." "sorry, i don't know where the grass seed is, i just deliver the plants." "i actually don't work for the store, i work for the tree nursery.... no i don't know where they have the sheep manure.... no, i really don't work for the store.... yes, i'm serious.... of course i would tell you if I knew where it was...."
sometimes, we'd just say, "i don't actually work here." then they'd look at us weirdly, as we continued to unload shrubs off the crates. ha.
i also won't miss arriving at a store, and finding that the soil in my little perennials is rock hard. ya know why your plants are all dying???? cuz you don't water them!!! [it's not our responsibility to water the plants, it's the store's]. it's been a real challenge to stay positive this summer. it's weird.... i was outside, working with plants [that smell nice], having great co-workers, and not having to help customers.... but it was trying sometimes. when it was cold and rainy and when my litte flowers die because certain stores didn't care about them....

but it's done now. and camp starts soon and everyone keeps telling me how 'crazy' camp gets.... hmmmm, i'm starting to wonder if i should be getting nervous? but really, i've done camp before. i know that craziness. and the best part is that with day camp, if the kid gets sick, you send him home. if she's barfing everywhere, she goes home. if they need to pee in the middle of the night... hey that's okay, because they're at home. i don't need to tell kids every night to be quiet after lights out, don't need to worry if it's thursday and they haven't bathed once yet, and i can (hopefully) relax in the evenings at home with my husband.

anyways. we're off to our friend's cabin in an hour or so, and i haven't packed or anything....

I think I need to get a hold of you guys to see if there are any free beds, or even just a few hours of EnterTainmentTime available at Chez Polinsky during a certain portion of July. T'would be a delight to partake of your company!
