answer to prayer

i realized that i forgot to tell you all that our car is fixed!! can you believe it?? i cannot, and i am still skeptical that it is all fixed...

R brought it in to a shop here to get it fixed and ed, the car guy who is supposed to pay for it all or fix it himself, said that he'd pay for it. well, the shop took it apart and told R what was wrong, R told ed, and then ed said that he would only pay $25, for the part. what about the labour? no, now he says that he refuses to pay for the labour because "i would have done it myself". HA!!!! he would have????????? he had 11.5 months to do it himself and he just didn't show up for the appointments that we did make with him.
so, R called the car shop and told them to stop, not fix it, and put the car back together (they know our whole predicament and so they understood). so now, we owe the car shop $75 for their labour. OH WELL. that's owning a car for you.

so then R drove to winkler and ed fixed the car while R hung out in winkler (he was trying to see how long he could live in manitoba without ever going to winkler. haha!). and as R was leaving, he noticed that after ed fixed the horn, now the steering wheel was totally crooked. ed said, "oh you'll have to get that fixed at a garage." WHAT? R said that he just stood there staring at him thinking "am i not at a garage right now? and didn't you just mess up the steering wheel?", until ed got the point that R wasn't leaving. then he offered to fix that. and it only took a few minutes of his precious, precious time.

what? how can you even function that way? just before we got the car, after we agreed on a price, he fixed the alignment, but broke the horn. so now a year later he fixes the horn, but messes up the alignment. and then tells us to get it fixed somewhere.....

so, no curtesy car like he said there would be, and R had to miss a day of work and we had to pay for the gas out there, but...

it's over. the dash lights don't come on anymore, so i guess he fixed whatever that was.
and the horn works again. the windshield still leaks occasionally, but that's minor. but it's all over and i guess that's an answer to our year-long prayers.
