we survived the first week of camp! with no major injuries at that! just a few sore ankles, a skinned knee, 2 lost baby teeth, a very sprained big toe, a large toenail that got ripped almost off, a nose that was bonked on the bottom of the pool, and a lot of attention-whining.
and we all had a ton of fun. on wednesday we went to the beach at bird's hill park and played in the murky, band-aid-y water and had a sandcastle-building contest and then had a sleepover at the church. the next day we went to the zoo. today we spent at the waterslides. it's been in the 30's all week. in fact, it is 9:15 pm and the weather network says that it's 29 degrees, but feels like 38 degrees. mmmmmm. yum.
well, now you are probably saying to yourself that we have it pretty easy, getting paid to build sandcastles and go watersliding.... well, yeah, sure, whatever... i have forgotten how much energy it takes to always be overly excited about everything, all the time......... okay, the kids are getting restless on the bus... let's sing some very loud songs with very big actions! okay, there's 15 minutes to spare... let's play a game! okay, more songs! more games! more ankles that spontanously start hurting!
it is the weekend. and i am fully exhausted. around 7 pm tonight i almost fell asleep on the couch, but i stopped myself, because it was a little too early for going to bed, but as for a nap.... i probably would have slept till midnight or so and then woken up.... it's a lazy sort of evening. with no plans whatsoever. the perfect sort of lazy night where it would be wonderful to relax in the bathtub, with my bath pillow, some bubbles and a good book.
it would be.
if it weren't 38 outside.
